Ok how does that happen .... The first chair goes together no problem ... you cut the fabric the same size first one Fabulous, second one yikes somehow the second chair grew? so now its fraying and really tight to go on .. who knows...my thumb is getting a bit sore from all this hammering and tiny sharp nails, well looking more like midnight for this to be finished .Well if I do say so myself the chair looks 100 times better then it did before. Till tomorrow oh and of course here in the UK its Mothering Sunday ...

Lazy Saturday
Did not do to much today as of yet .... I did watch Harry Potter
and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Excellent movie so that is the lot of
them for now... Looking forward to J K Rowlings new book in July.
Then I was searching around on the web looking for some different
techniques of shibori type dyeing ... and stumbled across this site.

and went to california and bought some tye dyed t-shirts, he loved
them so much when he went back home (he could not get them there)
he went and did his own dyeing and made this little program to show
you what colour you will get when you mix this colour with that colour.
I have seen this wonderful piece of Mokume type dyed fabric/scarf and
this is what I would like to do to reproduce a piece that is like this to use
in a quilt. So first I will have to do some stitching on some fabrics that
I will have to dye ... will post pics of that a bit later when I get that done.
I also have to do two balloon back chairs for a friend of mine.... been putting
that off for a bit.
better get off moving then ... pics to follow.

Not in africa
This is the sight that I see coming home. I just caught
the tail end of the sunset it was much more dramatic
just before this but I was in the car driving at the time.
When I see these trees I always think this looks
like africa ... even though I have not been yet.

E-J sketching away
Here is my friend the pastel artist sketching away
the quilt .. she has already bought one of my pieces
and has current just finished it in pastel .. its wonderful
her blog is http://dust-bunny.blogspot.com .
She is now inspired to use this in another piece of her
work ... cannot wait to see it !
Exhibit at work (on for a month)
Well so far so good ..... I have gotten all nice comments on my stuff .... Lovely change , oh they are great ... oh is that your work??? very nice
and others love it ... will keep you posted on comments .. if it doesnt bore you.
I was going to put them up with rods and fishing wire but ... could not find the fishing line.
do you think you can get it in a hardware store here .. umm dont think so ...
so will have to venture out further ...

March 1st and still snowing !!!

Ok this morning woke up and its snowing, quite fine as
well which means there could be accumulation today.

Its COLD out there
Ohhh well its cold outside tonight so cold in fact I dont even want to go over to
the sewing machine and play around on it.... I am her on the laptop in bed...
that is how cold I am .... just cannot warm up... and the laptop is telling me that
it needs the battery changing so its beeping away every five seconds .. ok
I will shut it done after this entry and see if that stops the beeping noise.
Can you believe I am from Canada and think this weather is cold !!!
What a whimp I am ... and how did I do it for all those years .
Well tomorrow is the big day for showing my art quilts at work and
I am sure I will get some comments on them... hopefully they will like them
but I am sure not everyone will .. but to each their own.
I guess its normal to feel a bit apprehensive.
I have a few ideas floating around in my head for my next couple of
quilts ...I will put them in my sketchbook and let you see them soon.

Klimtomania
Well let me tell you I AM HOOKED .
I have had this klimt like piece for some time
and thought the colours and shapes are fab!!!
So I just started cutting the shapes and then
went to it with the free machining.
What do you think ? I will still try playing around
with some gold foiling.. then the binding and it
too will be ready for the showing of my stuff at work.

Ok this is almost done now just the binding to do .... we have had a productive weekend this is only the second time that I have done machine embroidery ... wow very addictive actually ......
and soothing.. I am having a showing of my things at work ...so will take photos of them up on the wall ... wonder what type of comments I will get ...
