Elmers glue

Elmers blue gel glue washable

Right trying to find this in the UK but no luck :(
I want to get a few of these for an experiment
Can I be so bold as to ask someone in the USA
to send me over a few of these and I can give them
the money for it? Its to try a dyeing technique. Posted by Picasa

Fan fold dyeing

For Linda of Occasional Jottings
This is the technique used for fan folding and dyeing the fabric.
Linda this one is an older piece, so I just took the fabric fan folded it and
clamped it with clothes pegs as shown. Put some dye into the container that
you will be using and put in piece this will soak up some of the colour from
one side... then you take a spoon or squirty device and pour this on the top of
the piece so you get two colours bits of darker on one side
and lighter on the other... give it a go and see how yours turns out.

ta for now ironing and sewing on a lovely day off today.

Hand dyeing day

fan folded technique

Well here I was today doing some hand dyeing when I
am supposed to be finishing up sewing things for my
show at work in the common room. Do I have any pieces ready
NOPE , well I could put some older stuff up that they have
not really seen ... but we will have to see what I get done.
But as promised I said I would post these for you to see.
I think that either I am not using enough dye powder or
for some reason there is too much polyester in the fabric
some were old pillow cases so ... who knows that the content
was ??? Posted by Picasa

Thick Bleach experiment

Technique of thick bleach on black tshirt

A little experiment with thick bleach on a black tshirt.
I have been wanting to try bleach on black for some time now
and decided to give it a go. Here are the results, I am very
pleased with them.
I also thought it might be an idea to do some hand dyeing
as I was doing a few loads of washing anyways....
as I took the last load out of the washing machine, I thought hmmm
funny smell and looked near the machine and little puffs of smoke
were coming from the machine!!!!!! This cannot be good, I havent
tried the machine as of yet and something I think burned out.
We have been looking around anyways for a toploader instead
of the front one so its one way to burn out the old machine.
I am going to do some dyeing anyways today just rinse them out
well and swish them in some soapy water hopefully they will come
out fine... sooooo pics of those dyed pieces later today... till then ;)
