Purchases today
Today at lunch, we have a bus that takes us to town if we want to go from work.
So off I went with getting felt in mind for a project that I have to do this weekend.
Well after that, I stopped at the artstore Tindalls in cambridge and founds some
good prices on things .. well I thought .. only 50 pence and another 50 pence.
All in all a bargoon.. Got home tonight took them out hmmm ....
I wonder what that fabric colour looks like as it has sparkles in it... lets just
OHHH DARNNNNNNNNNN the paint spewed out as I was taking the lid
off it got all over things, as you can see. I mopped it up with that piece I worked
on yesterday with the glue on it..
Perhaps a blessing in disguise.. more on that piece when I get around to dyeing it.

I can RESIST

Can you RESIST

Well here are a few samples of some elmers blue gel
glue resists that are long overdue. I recieved some
glue from Jen in Lousianna, as she was so kind as
to send me not one but two bottles of this .
Thanks again Jen I have used up half a bottle on
this one piece of fabric. What do you think?
I still have to wait till it dries then overdye this.
Then wash out the dye and see how it all turns out.
Kinda excited about this I have the idea to overdye
with a dark plum colour I think ... hmm
any other ideas when you do overdyeing it might
come out different with the greenish undertone.
I am getting together my list of me me things
thanks Liz I owe you one. ;)
I am also working on a piece for the yahoo group I belong to
LIKEMINDEDTHREADS a small piece that should be 6 inches
by 6 inches and has to do with spring has sprung... I am not
really a flowery type of girl but still going to participate.
So off to do some hand sewing .. Later

Need more black fabric

Bleach resist dyeing

I think this is a great technique ... but note to self
dont wear black or anything good when your doing
this technique with bleach silly girl... I had my black
turtleneck on and it now has two lovely splotches on
it .. and they are tiny so
A) dye it black again
B) put more bleach on it and make it a feature
C) only wear it for dyeing inthe future
I am not sure what I am going to do with these pieces
yet will leave them on my design board .. well
on my shelf so I can see them.
Need more black fabric so I can do some more pieces like this.

Oil paintings

Abstract oil painting 30 odd years ago

I did these paintings when in high school
art class. I love the colours of the brown and
hey doesnt it look like driftwood? Just thought
I would post some of my older artwork to see
the progression. In the picture below I did a
wood frame by painting it ? I have no idea what
I was really thinking when doing this but thought
I had to do a knot in the frame so it would kinda
look real. I did enjoy doing these and when painting
the sky I did not want them to be blue .. I am always
that type of person that has to be different and
not go with the flow. If your at a workshop and you
want me to do something like what you did NOPE
I have to do something different!! Thats me!

Size is everything!

one of the drawings banana flower

OH my goodness, size and proportion are way off.
My man said, whom I might add can draw said umm
you drew them so far apart (flowery things) I said
yes , yes I am crap at drawing you know that.
But good exercise I think ! HA HA.
I may have to resort to using cut out pieces
of the pictures I found. Not such a bad thing, if I want
this to look anything remotely like what it should.
Felicity and you strive for perfection eheh cannot
find any of that here. I just dont want to stress myself
out about doing some of the work... I am already doing
so many other things today to avoid doing this quilt.
Did some resist dyeing on some black fabric, and pulling out
alot of other pieces of fabric for another quilt I want to work on
that is for someone special. Then I went up to the loft
to take a couple of pictures of some of my older work when
I was in high school. The are abstract oil paintings and I
will post them tomorrow if anyone wants to have a look.
Then I have a workshop withLaura Kemshall
this month. There might be one or two spaces available
so if you fancy doing a workshop with her on Jan 21st
here in cambridge, you can leave me a post,
and I will get back to you about it.
