Wow Stunning
How lovely are the colours on this tree .. ok now I am sure I am going to get this wrong but feel free to correct me if I am wrong.. I think its a sumac tree .. I cannot get over the range of the colours .. looks like fire.
Oooh, that's what Sumac is, is it? There's one of these down the side of the Civic Centre in Newport... hmmm...you can use it for natural dyeing apparently. Wonder if they'll miss a bit?!!
Yes indeedy, thats a sumac, and that poem is what we always said when we would go by a bunch of them, they are so pretty here and yes they do use them for dying, great work and stunning YES. Suzanne

Yup Sumac.
Indian Summer
Along the line of smoky hills
The crimson forest stands,
And all the day the blue-jay calls
Throughout the autumn lands.
Now by the brook the maple leans
With all its glory spread,
And all the sumachs on the hill
Have turned their green to red.
Now by great marshes wrapt in mist
Or past some river’s mouth,
Throughout the long, still autumn day
Wild birds are flying south.
I learned this is grade 4 and Sue and I we're always saying it when we would see them...
