Books verses EBooks

Well I am very curious to get some ideas of how people feel in relation to having books or Ebooks in the textile, multi media industry. I know there are a pros and cons (which I know how I feel but just wanted to leave it open to see what you thought) on this issue but overall I wondered what people thought. Leave me a comment if you feel strongly one way or the other or want to say more then which you would choose and why.

Eagerly awaiting your reply ... please encourage others to vote with a link from your site if you like.

Thanks in advance.

I tried voting but needed to be signed in - but signed in to what I do not know. Anyway, I am not a lover of ebooks in general. I do like the hard copy that I can pick up and view and turn pages instead of scrolling - especially textile related pages in colour.

I tried voting too, but same thing..you're supposed to sign in. Anyhow, here's my vote...definitely a real honest-to-goodness hold-in-my-hand drool-over book. I want to be able to take the book to where ever I am. I do a lot of my reading in bed and taking the computer to bed with me just wouldn't be much fun!

Tried voting but like others sign in to what???

Definitely a hard copy. There's nothing like flipping through a book.

real books every time - nothing like opening a brand new book or going back to an old favourite. could you read an e book in the bath???

there's something too removed about reading a book on a screen and i don;t fancy the screen glare either. i read something about the difference between reading a screen and reading a printed book and the effect on your brain/brain chemistry - sorry for the vagueness but i'm supervising the teenager cooking dinner !

I can cope with reading blogs and 'how-to's' on the computer but I much prefer to hold a book in my hand and be able to turn the pages and enjoy the pictures without zooming in and out. Books everytime!

You cant beat a book, looking at a 'book' on a screen is not the same.

Hi Sandy, I love to read "real" books, but with postage costs out to me here in Spain e-books are a viable option for me and I have purchased a couple of them. One advantage is that they do lie flat when trying to keep a page open while trying out a technique!!

I'm in agreement with most of the group. I buy reference books for textiles but I do listen to "books on tape" for my fiction fix....on my way to work.
