These are the clays

Modeling Clay Posted by Picasa These are the two clays I used in the items below. The air dry one is model magic and is light as paper when it drys. Also doesnt curl up like the other one from Reeves so the price is alot less on reeves but only get that one if you dont mind the curling up.
Model magic can be purchased at ArtvanGo here in the UK. Elsewhere in the world its made by crayola and you can get it at micheals I think .. here is a bit of info on it.
t is much cleaner than traditional clay, although not durable enough to replace Play-Dough for everyday use. It doesn't leave the oily residue or stain like modeling clays do. (I don't think Crayola is even making a regular modeling clay anymore) It can be easily molded into any clay mold. It has no scent and doesn't have to be baked to dry (which means no fumes) and the short drying time makes it ideal for last minute school projects (only large pieces need a full 24 hours to dry). This can also be painted if you by the white variety.

would it be possible to use them as moulds to form a stamp?

Thanks Sandy. On my last visit to the art shop I found some "stones". Similar, but not as nice, as yours. I'd rather make my own.

These are very cool! A great way to make your own stamps, or buttons or beads for wall art, or a zillion other uses!
